Mesquite pods are among the earliest known foods of prehistoric man. Native Americans saw it as an integral part of their culture where pods served as food and were used for medicinal tea. The seed pods are also known as white carob.
Mesquite has a sweet, slightly caramel flavour. Use as a nutritious low GI sweetener in smoothies, breakfast oats, muesli, snack bars and cookies. Combined with hemp seeds you can create a great dairy alternative.
